Comment policy and privacy
How comments are handled, and what happens to the information you give us.
Who can comment
Anyone can comment on an open project. We ask which community you live in so the agency leading the project can see how the people closest to it feel.
Every comment that follows this policy is shared with the agency in full. Comments are not edited, and they are not left out because they oppose a project or criticize an agency.
Comments that are set aside
A comment is set aside, and not counted with the others, if it:
- threatens or harasses a person or group
- uses profanity or slurs
- is spam, advertising, or has nothing to do with the project
- repeats a comment the same person already sent (one copy is kept)
- comes without a real name or a working email address
Comments that are set aside are kept on file. The agency is told how many were set aside and why.
Your information
We ask for your name, email and ZIP code so the agency knows comments come from real people. Your street address and phone number are optional.
- Your information and your comment are shared with the agency leading the project.
- Comments sent to a government agency may become part of the public record.
- We do not sell your information or use it for marketing.
- The comment form uses Google reCAPTCHA to block automated spam.
